Windisch Quartett CHAOS (Hout Records, 2020)

Julius Windisch is a piano player and composer based in Berlin. The title track kicks in and you know it already - these are skilled musicians. They improvise over tricky compositions. The flow is remarkable and the improvisation never gets dry and mechanical. This is a beautiful album and what I like the most is the variety. Each track tells a story, each tune has its personality and vibe. Look out for Julius Windisch, bandleader, composer and alchemist for the new century. Recommended.
